Howard O. Manning, 76
Howard O. Manning, 76, of Millersville died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Essa Flory Hospice Center after a long battle with diabetes.
Born in Martic Township on March 28, 1930 he was the son of the late Mary Sickman Manning and Oliver Charles Manning.
He was employed in Agricultural Sales for 45 years. He worked at the Olin Corp. in the AG Division as a Manager of Customer Service in Baltimore and as a Sales Representative in Lebanon.
He also worked as a Sales Manager and Salesman for Lebanon Chemical Corp. in Lebanon then at Rouster-Clark in Norfolk, VA. For three years, Howard also worked for the Millersville Borough Planning Commission as Chairman. He retired on September 30, 2000.
Howard graduated from the former Manor High School Class of 1949. He attended the University of Baltimore.
He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War.
He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Millersville in the usher league and as a sound technician.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Charles M. Howell Lodge #496, Millersville where he was former Chaplain of the Lodge. He was also a member of the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection Harrisburg Consistory.
He was married to Jeanette R. Manning since 1989. He was previously married to the late M. Patricia Ainsworth Manning for 37 years.
Surviving besides his wife is a daughter; Jodell “Jodi” married to Donald C. Rankin of Millersville; a son; Michael B. married to Nancy Manning of Columbia; grandson; Justin A. Manning and two step-grandsons; Zachery and Shawn Haines; two brothers; Robert P. married to Peggy Sheets Manning of Lancaster and Martin R. Manning of Lancaster; four sisters; Pauline Charles of Lititz; Helen Denlinger of Lancaster; Ethel Campbell of Lancaster; Verna married to Warren Hess of Willow Street. He was preceded in death by a twin brother; Harry Manning.
Funeral service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 163 W. Frederick St., Millersville on Wednesday at 2:00pm. A viewing will be held at the church from 12:30pm until time of service. Interment in Grace United Methodist Cemetery.
