Howard F. Wolpert Jr., 61

March 08, 2022

Howard F. Wolpert, Jr., 61, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital after a courageous and steadfast battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Howard F. Wolpert, Sr. and Jennie M. Wolpert.

Howard was a kind and gentle soul who loved talking about his family and visiting with them. Howard was a resourceful man who had a passion for finding value in the things that would be easily discarded by most. He enjoyed spending time at auctions, sales, and various markets finding his next treasure. Howard was a man that asked little to nothing of others and found true happiness in the little things in life.

Howard’s face would light up at the mention of his son, Andrew Wolpert (fiancé of Brandi); as well as his five grandchildren Vanessa, Alaina, Stephanie, Jason, and Luka. Howard will be missed and never forgotten by his surviving siblings Larry Wolpert (husband of Frances), Linda Bachman (wife of James), Suzanne Shertzer (wife of Douglas, deceased), and Mary Wolpert; as well as his nine nieces and nephews.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Howard’s memory to the Water Street Rescue Mission at www.wsm.org or 210 S Prince Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Condolences to the Family

Larry, Linda, Suzanne and Mary,
Howie’s obituary says it all.  He was the kind, happy and, as you said, enjoyed life and family and friends.  If he knew where you lived, you could expect a visit.  My Mom, Aunt Hettie Ransing, adored Howie.  We all looked forward to the family reunions when we would see those we don’t get to see often enough. Thank you, Larry, for all your hard work on those.  We all will miss Howie’s huge heart and joyful personality.
See you later, Howie.

So sorry to hear that my cousin is gone. But I know he is in a better place. There are many times I think about Jr. He seemed to have a smile and a way to cheer you up.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Jr. was our chilhood friend and he was kind and always making us laugh. I’ll always remember all of us hanging out and spending time at each other’s homes. Jr would always spy on us girls and we would always find him and Maryanne would yell at him…Jr get out of here! I’ll never forget the time when my Mom was at work and we were all playing hide and seek in our house but we couldn’t find Jr, everyone was looking for him because my Mom was coming home, we could see her walking up the street. Everyone was yelling for him, come on if Mrs. Kirchner finds us she’ll kill us! I thought, no, he couldn’t be on the window, I threw open the drapes and there he was spread out like and eagle, scared the daylights out of me. He was on the outside of the window on the 2nd fl. How he got up there I’ll never know. But what I do know…it was a blast! I’m so glad he was included in our little group. Yes, he was a helper with our neighbors, painting railings, whatever he could do he did. Jr. will never be forgotten, he was truly blessed as we all were for having such fond memories and fun times. I’ll always remember you Jr with a smile on my face. God bless you and your family.
