Howard Beam, 89

Howard Beam, 89, of 64 Quaker Hills Road, Millersville passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2008, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community surrounded by his family. Born July 7, 1918 in Beckersville to the late Adam and Esther (McGowan) Beam, he spent 58 years living in Talmage before moving to Millersville in 1977.  He was the husband of 67 years to the late Mildred (Shuman) Beam and was a member of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Millersville.

Howard worked for 32 years at the John W. Eshleman Feed Company, a company he held in high regard, where he started as a laborer and worked his way up to Quality Control Manager. He was a former member of the Lanco and Lebanon Beagle Clubs. Howard had a keen interest in politics, the economy, and world affairs.  His children admired his intelligence, respected his attention to detail, and valued his interest in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Doris married to William White of Millersville and Marianne married to Larry Wenger of Leola, 3 grandchildren Bobby White, Kelly Miller, and Leann McDonald, and 4 great grandchildren Ellyn White, Evan, Ethan, and Emily Miller.  Also surviving is a brother, William Beam of Talmage.  He was preceded in death by a brother Elmer Beam and 2 sisters Laura Burkholder and Grace Coble.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Grace Evangelical Congregational Church of Millersville,18 Kready Ave. Millersville, PA 17551.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike 17543 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Joel Christman and Rev. Ken Lefever officiating. Friends will be received before the service at the funeral home from 9-10 a.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
