Henry H. Wolf

Henry H. Wolf, beloved husband of Doris Greiner Wolf with whom he would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this month, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital in his 87th year after a brief illness.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Carl and Grace Hecker Wolf.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Sahd of Mebane, NC and Marianne Walsh of Leola. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Matthew Dell, husband of Kimberley, of Seattle, WA; Joshua Dell of Mebane, NC, Danielle Walsh of Virginia Beach, VA and James Walsh Jr. of York, PA. The youngest of eight children, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles, Albert, and John Wolf, along with his sisters, Katie Mitterer, Pauline Shutt, and Mary Guldin. He is survived by his sister, Elsie Horn of Lancaster.

Henry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corps in the European Theater. He was employed by Hamilton Watch Co. and JC Penney until his retirement in 1984.

He and his wife were longtime volunteers at St. Joseph Hospital as well as their parish church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lancaster, where they had served as Sacristants. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, woodworking ,and drawing.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, July21, 2010 from 7-830PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 8PM. Friends may call again on Wednesday, July 22, 2010 from 10-1030AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 554 W. Walnut St, Lancaster, PA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1030AM, the Rev. Michael Messner as Celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
