Harold F. Schatz, Jr., 90

Harold F. Schatz, Jr., 90, of Mt. Joy, passed away peacefully at the Lebanon VA Hospice, Thursday, April 28, 2016. Harold was the son of the late Harold F. and Katherine (Wanger) Schatz, Sr. and was a life-long resident of Mt. Joy. He was the husband of the late Myrle (Soonan) Schatz who died in 2007.
Harold proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he worked for RCA until his retirement in 1972. More than anything, Harold loved spending time with his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and really enjoyed gardening and taking trips to the mountains. Harold was a member of the American Legion, Post 185 and the VFW, Post 5752.
Harold is survived by his son, George W. Schatz, husband of Doris, of Mt. Joy; 4 grandchildren: Robin Haug, wife of Scott, of Lititz; Stacy Funk, wife of Robert, of Annville; Hope Barnes, wife of Bradley, of Mt. Joy; Shaun Schatz, husband of Becky, of Mt. Joy. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his son Harold Schatz, and great-grandson, Kevin.
A Funeral Service for Harold will be held at 11AM, on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 W. Main St., Mt. Joy, PA 17552. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10-11AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harold’s name may be made to Hospice & Community Care, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
