Harold E. Beam, 83

Harold E. Beam, 83, of Lancaster, died March 4, 2008 at Essa Flory Hospice Center. His wife Jennie was by his side. Harold and Jennie shared 43 years together with many wonderful memories of family, friends and traveling. Their last big adventure together was a trip to South America in January 2007.

He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Carney Beam. He worked in the credit and collection department at UGI for 38 years before his retirement in 1986. After his retirement Harold worked part time for Rouf Florist and as a courier for Shaeffer’s Printing and Office Supplies. He also volunteered for Millersville Meals on Wheels.

Harold was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He belonged to the Elks, Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, Italian Cultural Club, and Centerville AARP Chapter. Harold also enjoyed being a member of two social dance groups, the Polkateers and Carousel Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Jennie, are one daughter, Sharon Stauffer wife of Stan, of New Providence and three Step-daughters Maryann Smith wife of Michael, Pearl Cuthie both of Lancaster, and Linda Gerhart wife of Jeffrey, of Wyomissing. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 18 grandchildren. Harold is also by three siblings; Frank Beam, Richard Beam, and Esther Bitts all of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur Beam of Lancaster and Sister Dorothy Smith, of Columbia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 119 S. Prince St. Lancaster, 17603 at 11 A.M. with the Rev. Leo Goodman as celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of service. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman.

Contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church 119 S. Prince St. Lancaster, 17603  or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Flowers are also appreciated.
