H. Wilbur “St. Pete” Nauman, 75

November 18, 2015

H. Wilbur Nauman, 75 of Ephrata, went home to be with his Lord on Nov. 18, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Manheim, PA he was the son of the late Frank & Ruth (Barr) Nauman. He was the loving husband of Gloria (Snader), A.K.A “Wifey” with whom he shared over 58 years of marriage.
Wilbur was a member of Ephrata Grace Church. He was an independent truck driver for 45 years doing all his own maintenance. He began his career as a lime hauler for Martin Stone then hauled potatoes for E.K. Bare & Sons. His family estimates he drove 7 million miles during his lifetime, traveling all across the USA & Canada. Wilbur had a love of snowmobiling. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Assoc. (P.S.S.A), winning snowmobiler of the year in 1995. For many years he operated Nauman Snowmobile Transport, to ‘support his habit’ as he would say. He spent his summers on Turkey Island, Camp Holly, on the Susquehanna River, boating, water skiing, gardening & just tinkering around. His family & friends have many fond memories of their times on Nauman’s Island. After his retirement in 2002, Wilbur & Wifey spent their winters at The Hide-A-Way RV Resort in Ruskin, Fla. He spent his final 1 ½ yrs. at Fairmount Homes in the care of a wonderful staff to which the family appreciates, greatly.
He is survived by 3 sons & a daughter. Timothy W. Nauman, Ephrata, James L. Nauman, husband of Cynthia & Chad S. Nauman, husband of Heather both of Lititz & Bonita J. Mulvenna, Ephrata. 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, (with 2 more on the way), a brother Charles Ray, husband of Betty, Manheim & a sister-in-law, Betty Nauman, E. Petersburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Zimmerman, 2 brothers, Stanley & Earl Nauman & a great-grandson, Asher Finn Barth.
A memorial service will be held at Ephrata Grace Church, 62 Hahnstown Rd. on Monday Nov. 23, 2015 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Wilbur’s memory to: Alzheimer’s Foundation of America,866-AFA-8484 or www.alzfdn.org.
