Gus Edward Forte, 54

September 03, 2021

Gus Edward Forte, 54 of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2021. He was the son of Cosimo Forte and the late Merla (Ambrose) Forte, and the beloved husband to Tammy (Ressler) Forte for almost 29 years.

Gus graduated from Hempfield High School in 1985 and has been driving for Crowley Trucking for 3 ½ years. A devout man of God, Gus was known for being easy going, fun, personable, and instantly welcoming. His heart was full of love and generosity, and his family was always his priority. Gus enjoyed playing basketball and football in his earlier years, and was an avid hunter and fisherman recently. He often took trips to his family cabin in Clearfield, PA and beach trips to Sea Isle City, NJ. Knowing Gus was an absolute privilege, and he will be sorely missed.

In addition to his father Cosimo and his wife Tammy, Gus is survived by his two sons Lucas and Cole Forte, his brother Steve Forte (Clare), his nephew Steven Forte, and a host of beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 11 at Mission Church, 651 Lampeter Rd., Lancaster, PA 17602, starting at 1 PM with no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gus’s name to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

I met Gus several years ago working at Equipment Depot. I remember him being such a nice person. He was so easy to talk to and always smiling. Very knowledgable and was well liked by everyone. It’s very sad hearing of his passing, but I envy him. He’s is now home and in the presence of Jesus. I pray that God gives the family peace, but also gives the family hope that Gus will be waiting to see them again when Jesus takes us all home.
The love of Christ not only defines us, but it also defends us. It defines us because He dies for us, and it defends us because His Spirit lives in us. ( 1 John 4:9 )

To the Forte family. I have just been informed of your loss. I am truly saddened. I was very privileged to spend time with Gus coaching baseball when my son, Nick, and Cole played little league and junior midgets together.  He was knowledgeable, passionate, and approached the game with the ability to have fun and teach the great game of baseball at the same time. We had many laughs and enjoyed each other’s company.  My thoughts and prayers are with you as well as my wife, Tina and Nick.  May you find the strength and courage to celebrate, which I viewed as, a great and happy life that Gus lived…. I am a neighbor to the Forte family.  Gus and his personality were a shining star, as a good husband to Tammy, and a wonderful father to his two active sons Lucas and Cole.   He was a true friend in the neighborhood and always had time to talk.  His laughter and positive vibes will be greatly missed.  My heartfelt love and prayers to his family.

Although I only met Gus a couple of times, I could tell immediately he was a good person.  He loved his wife, his kids, and his friends so much, which was very evident.  This world has lost a truly fine person.  I’m so sorry to hear of his passing and want his family and friends know that my thoughts are with all of them.

Went to school with Gus, shared home room together all of our High School years and we graduated together. Great guy! Fun times were definitely had knowing Gus at Hempfield High school! Regret not staying in touch. However, believe about 5 years ago or so I ran into Gus out hiking the Conestoga Trail with my dog, me not being recognizable with hat and sunglasses on…when Gus approached me, when at the time he was coming or going from a boat fishing trip, shouting hey Chas it’s Gus. it’s was great seeing him again and catching up…The same Gus I always knew and enjoyed our times together, just like yesteryears!
God bless your family!

I am so sorry for your loss! Cole, reading your dad’s obit explains why you’re a great coworker and an easy fit in whatever you do. May the Lord hold you all in this time of deep sadness. May you savor the reality knowing he is with Jesus.       Maureen BRK

We knew Gus since he was about 5 years old and what a nice little boy he was always. He was a great teenager and became a great Father and Husband.
We worked with Gus when he was in High School for about 4 years. He was such a great employee that if he could not make it to work,  his Father, Gus filled in for him.
Always a great smile and great attitude.  Gus will be missed by many.
Our sympathy to Tammy, Lucas, Cole, and all his other family and friends.  A loss to all. We loved Gus.
