Grace M. Vogeler, 53

Grace M. Vogeler of Kissel Hill Rd., Lititz died April 21, 2007, in her cherished home in the care of loved ones, and a hospice nurse named Marjorie after a valiant two month fight against lung cancer.

She was born Nov. 28, 1922 in Hampton Beach, NY. The daughter of the late George H. Kirk and Grace Simcock Kirk, both Irish immigrants.

She was married to the late Dr. Edward J. Vogeler Jr. for fifteen years who called her his “Wild Irish Rose”.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn NY in 1940. In her early twenties she became a model for the dept stores Stern’s and Macy’s in New York City. Grace began a career with Bell Telephone after her children were born and retired as a supervisor in the late 70’s with over thirty years of service.

Grace was a life long animal lover. She will be missed deeply by her two dogs “Chang”, a black Pug and “Pookie” a Pomeranian mix. She loved music especially Elvis Presley’s love and gospel songs. She was also a fan of the Irish tenor Daniel O’Donnell. Grace was happiest planting flowers in her garden, watching birds at her many feeders and being with her loved ones. She also collected Chinese art work and statuary and enjoyed reading.

She will be deeply missed and survived by a daughter Carole V. Herr of Lititz; a son Edward J Vogeler III husband of Joy, of Ephrata; three grand children, Stephanie Worden of Lititz; Stacy Wiernicki wife of Michael of Lititz; and Michael T. Herr of Lititz; two great grand children Nicholas and Adam; one sister Jane Gillette wife of Leroy; and one brother George T. Kirk both of Lancaster. She is pre-deceased by two brothers Dale and Jim and a sister Betty.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 pm at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz 17543. The interment will be private at family convenience.
