Gerald R. Offenbaker, 80
Gerald R. Offenbaker Sr., 80 of Lancaster, also known as Pappy and Pop went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2008.Born in Newark, Ohio, he was the son of the late John B. and Rose Dial Offenbaker. Jerry was married to Elizabeth Mable Offenbaker, who died February 2, 2008. He retired from ITT Grinnell where he worked in management. After retirement, he was a crossing guard for the Lancaster City Police Department, custodian at Pequea Elementary School and was a limo driver for Landis and Unique Companies.
An avid golfer, he was a former member of Conestoga Country Club. His other memberships included Elks Club,where he was the past Exalted Ruler, American Legion, and Lamberton Masonic Lodge #476. Jerry was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, where he was head usher for 40 years.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving is are two sons : Gerald Jr. husband of Dorine Offenbaker of Lancaster, Terry husband of Darlene Keemer of Willow Street, two daughters: Deborah Huslin of Millersville, Debra Call of Lancaster, four grandchildren: Jessica Keemer, Scott Keemer, Tarah Call, Randi Wolf, four great grandchildren: Cassidy, Kyle, Tyler, Chloe, and a brother; Robert Offenbaker of Newark, Ohio. Jerry was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
A funeral service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George Street, Millersville, PA on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00AM.
