George Vasali, 83

George Vasali, 83, of Lancaster passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Belgium, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Vasali. He was married to Elisabeth (Pferrer) Vasali for over 49 years.

He was a member of the Hungarian Army and served during WWII. After immigrating to the United States, he married his wife and settled in Lancaster.  George enjoyed playing soccer, was an avid bowler, and loved gardening. Throughout his whole life he enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife Elisabeth, he is survived by his children, Michael G. Vasali, of Danville, PA , Sylvia H. Batchelor, wife of Bryan, of Dry Ridge, KY, Christina V. Smith, wife of Michael E., of Marietta, PA and Peter J. Vasali, husband of Judy A., of York, PA. Also surviving are five grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice for their exceptional care and service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11AM on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Peter I. Hahn as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10-11AM. Interment will be private in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church at the above address.
