Franklin T. Shearer, 88

Franklin (Frankie) T. Shearer, 88, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his residence.  Born in Mount Joy, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Shearer and Fannie (Aliotto) Costarello.  Franklin was the husband of the late Rosemary “Tiny” K. (Wiley) Shearer.

A veteran of WWII, Franklin served in the U.S. Navy.  He retired as a pipe welder from Local 520 U.A. Plumbers and Pipefitters Union with over 50 years of service.  Franklin was a member of the Deputy Sheriffs Association, Pequea Valley Sportsman’s Club, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Hubley Club, 7th Ward Club, Riverside Club and Moose Lodge #214.  He was a life member of the Elks Lodge #1074 of Columbia, PA, Germania Band of Manheim, PA, Masonic Lamberton Lodge #476, Shrine Zembo, Tall Cedars, Commercial Travelers, Millersville VFW and AMVETS Post 19.

Surviving is a daughter, Suzanne S. Conklin, wife of the late Brian D. Conklin, of Parkton, MD; a companion, Dawn Gogolla of Lancaster, PA and her two sons, Kirk and Maurice Meiskey.

Franklin was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene (Jeep) Shearer, and his “father” who raised him, James R. Baughman.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602.  A viewing will be from 6-8PM on Monday, February 18, 2013 and again from 10-11AM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Franklin’s name to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.  To send the family online condolences, please visit SnyderFuneralHome.com.
