Frank E. Matylewich, 86
Frank E. Matylewich, 86, of Lititz, died Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Lancashire Hall. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank E., Sr. and Mary Typansky Matylewich. Frank was married to Gertrude Bush Matylewich for 62 years last June.
He graduated from Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1943 and then served as an infantryman in the US Army in Rhineland and Central Europe during WWII. Frank was a paint manufacturer at Best Brothers in Reading for many years. He then worked part time at the Gulf service station at the Bowmansville Plaza on the PA Turnpike.
Frank was a member of St. Stephen’s Polish National Catholic Church in Reading, the Adamstown Rod & Gun Club and the Brendle-Coleman VFW Post #8795 Adamstown.
In addition to his wife Gertrude, Frank is survived by a son Edward M. Matylewich, husband of Simone of Philadelphia; a daughter Diane M., wife of Marvin H. Underwood of Lititz; three grandchildren, Michelle, wife of John Shoultz of Lititz and Michael Underwood of Lititz and Darius Matylewich of Philadelphia; and two great-grandchildren, Brett and Maegan Shoultz of Lititz. Frank was preceded in death by his sister Betty Fisch.
A private Mass will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Stephen’s Polish National Catholic Church, 20 Saint Stephen’s Lane, Reading, PA, with The Very Rev. Edward D. Ratajack as Celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, South Central PA Chapter, 3544 N.
