Frances V. Brubaker, 99

Frances V. Brubaker, 99, of Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz, passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 16th, 2017. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late J. Ross and Elizabeth (Martin) Goldfus.
Frances was a lifelong member of the Neffsville Mennonite Church. She enjoyed participating with the bell choir and was active in her Sunday school class.
A graduate of Manheim Township High School in 1936, she was a proud mother raising two daughters prior to embarking upon her bachelor and master’s degrees. She achieved her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Eastern Mennonite University and her master’s degree in counseling education at James Madison University. Between her degrees, Frances taught at Paradise Elementary School. She was then recruited by EMU to be the next Dean of Women and served there until her retirement. After retirement, she continued in their Servanthood Program helping the university in many ways.
After returning to Lancaster County, she became an active and longtime volunteer with the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society. After her second retirement, she moved to Landis Homes where she continued her favorite hobbies of knitting, crocheting dish cloths for her family and friends, and completing a blanket for her great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by her two daughters; Elizabeth, wife of William Mellinger, Jr., of East Petersburg, Esther, wife of Donald Brubaker, of Lancaster, six grandchildren, Mindy, wife of Craig Hoin, of Washington Boro, William Mellinger III, husband of Terri, of East Petersburg, Christina, wife of Leon Beiler, of East Petersburg, Douglas Brubaker, of Lancaster, Brenda, wife of James Dietrich, of East Petersburg, Debra, wife of Karl Hancock, of Enola, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Goldfus, of Manheim. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Goldfus and Margaret Nissley as well as a brother, Ross M. Goldfus.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service at Landis Homes Bethany West Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd. Lititz, PA, 17543 Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at 11AM with The Rev. Hunter Hess officiating. The family will greet guests following the funeral service. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frances’ memory to Landis Homes c/o Care Fund or Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society 2215 Millstream Rd., Lancaster, PA 17602.
