Eugene H. Mackley, 77
Eugene H. Mackley, 77, of 6475 Main St, East Petersburg, passed away on Thursday evening, March 20, 2008 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center.
Eugene was the husband of Patricia M. O’Brien Mackley, with whom he had celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary this past June 24th. Born in Penn Twp., he was the son of the late Edgar G. and Irene Shaw Mackley.
He had worked for the ALCOA Corp. for 32 years. After retiring, he has been working at the Manheim Auto Auction.
A US Army veteran of the Korean War, Eugene served as a Sgt. From 1952 to 1954.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, liked his pets and very much enjoyed family activities. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by a son Gary E. married to Sharon Mackley of Marietta; a daughter Judy A. married to Michael Dobson of Bena, VA; 4 grandchildren and 4 stepgrandchildren; and 2 stepsons: Christopher S. married to Gaye Bailey of Landisville, and Gregory married to Tracy Bailey of Mt Joy. He is also survived by a sister Geraldine Geiman of Manheim and 2 brothers: Robert married to Isabelle Mackley of Lancaster, and Calvin married to Carol Mackley of Manheim.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 5-7PM from the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the funeral services to follow at 7PM with the Rev. Joseph Dobson officiating. Interment will be on Thursday at 11AM in the Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Sun Valley Rd., Manheim with the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard rendering military honors.
