Etta M. Schreiner, 90

Etta M. Schreiner, 90, of Lititz, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Luther Acres.
She was the wife of John “Jack” R. Schreiner, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage this past July 15th. Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Estella Weigley Ayers.
Etta was a 1945 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a BS in Business Administration and earned a Masters Degree in Economics from Penn State University in 1949. After her graduation she had worked at the Office Manager of the Dept. of Economics at Penn State.
Residing in Washington DC and Syracuse NY, she became an active volunteer on many boards including the Syracuse Symphony, the Onondaga Library System, the Liverpool Library and on the trustee board at Liverpool Methodist Church.
A cofounder of the Liverpool Arts and Crafts Guild, she won numerous awards for her paintings at the New York State Fair. She became a renown talented artist in acrylics, having her works displayed in galleries across the United States and currently at the Mulberry Art Studios in Lancaster.
After her husband Jack’s retirement, they moved to New Mexico where her interest in art continued, serving as the president of the New Mexico Art League. She also organized gatherings for Penn State Alumni living in the New Mexico area. After 13 years, Etta and Jack moved to Hershey and then to Lititz.
She is survived by her husband Jack of Lititz. She was preceded in death by her son, John Alan Schreiner and by her three brothers, George, Arthur, and Ernest.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 from 10-10:30AM at the Good Samaritan Chapel of Luther Acres Retirement Community, 600 E. Main St. , Lititz, PA, with the Memorial Service to follow at 10:30AM, the Rev. E. Walter Cleckley officiating. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
