Ethel M. Wiker, 82

Ethel M. Wiker, 82, of Lancaster, went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 30, 2007.

She was the wife of Park J. Wiker, with whom she had celebrated 66 years of marriage this past July 12th. Born in Columbia, Ethel was the daughter of the late Harold M. and Lucy (Dettinger) McElroy.

Ethel had been the manager and co-owner of the Deutschlandschaft Camping Grounds in Kinzers for many years. A go-getter and real people-person, she was an entrepreneur and multi-faceted person that had been involved in many businesses over the years.

Ethel was a proactive member of New Life Assembly of God Church of Lancaster, where she was involved in the Womens’ Ministries and the Forever Young group.

The spirit of giving was always a great part of her life, from making Scrubbies and giving gifts to others, to always having a kind word for everybody. Her faith was of great importance to her and she tried to live following those ideals.

She was a card-carrying member of the Whiskers social group.

In addition to her husband, Ethel is survived by 6 sons: Park H. married to Kathleen Wiker of Lititz, Roger W. married to Donna L. Wiker of Charlotte, NC, Albert J. married to Joan Wiker of Punta Gorda, FL, David E. Wiker of S. St. Paul, MN, Scott K. married to Susan Wiker of New Holland, and Gregory K. Wiker of Jupiter, FL; one daughter, Rebecca S. married to Thomas D. Mason of Lancaster. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and 2 step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Greta Wiker.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7-9PM, and again on Wednesday from 9-10AM at New Life Assembly of God Church, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA, 17602 with the funeral service at 10AM on Wednesday at the church, with the Rev Chris Foster officiating. Interment in Mellingers Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Ethel’s memory to New Life Assembly of God Church.
