Emily McAlpin Keebler, 66
Emily McAlpin Keebler, 66, of Lancaster died Friday night at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edwin A. McAlpin and the late Cecile B. Dunlap Whitmyer and the late Russell Whitmyer. Emily was the granddaughter of the late Walter May Dunlap, a founder of the Lancaster Stockyards and the late Lula Bausman Dunlap. Emily was married to James E. Keebler for 18 years.
Emily graduated from Lancaster Country Day in 1959 and holds a degree in Home Economics and Journalism from Bennett College and Penn State. She worked as an office secretary for various businesses.
Emily’s memberships included New York and Lancaster Junior League, friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Lancaster Quilting Guild, Circus Fans of America, and Lancaster Post Card Club.
She volunteered with meals on wheels. Her hobbies included traveling, dining out, crafts, quilting, gardening, cross word puzzles and circus model building. In 2004, Emily won first place in the state quilt block.
Surviving besides her husband, Jim are two children; Deborah wife of Kamran Sadr of New York City, Raymond Marusi of Marietta , PA, a stepdaughter; Jaime wife of Jack Sanders of Green Coast, Springs FLA., five grandchildren, two sisters; Betsy wife of Michael Hurley of Lancaster and Heather wife of Charles Richardson of Mount Lebanon. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Victoria Sanders.
Services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Lancaster.
