Condolences to the Family

October 22, 2019

My condolece to Anna Marie and family,
I worked for Elmer for 25 years and he was the most respected man at Intell. Elmer was always firm but fair. I remember when Elmer retired how everyone new that he would be greatly missed. When I retired they ask me who I would like to come in for my retirement party and say a few words and Elmer came in. Elmer was a mentor to me and many other people at Intell. He was a great man and friend. Barry

My father, Charles  Shepley, worked at Intell Printing with your husband/father.  Mr. Bare was always so kind to my Daddy.  I remember when my father was at home, dying from colon cancer in 1980, Mr. Bare would visit and even made a special trip to McDonald’s to get Daddy a milkshake because he was thirsty for one.  Prayers of comfort and sympathy to the family.

It was a pleasure to serve as Elmer’s physician at Brethren Village. What a supportive family who diligently and compassionately worked with me and his other physicians to keep him as comfortable and as active as his health would permit! My sympathies go to Betty, her sisters, and of course his lovely wife, as I sense he was a great father who will be missed.

So many 2AM Armstrong press approvals were all the more manageable thanks to Elmer’s calming manner. keen humor and of course, always expert advice. I learned so much from him during the crazy transition of printing to the digital age. He kept us all sane! Truly a gem, so grateful to have him as a mentor.

BL, Peggy, and Jeanne,
I just read your father’s obituary. He lived a long, full life. I remember how active he was as a parent in the LAC organization and his years of service to the club and the sport of swimming. I remember how proud he was of all three of  you and your swimming accomplishments. My sympathy to the Bare family.

Elmer, you were an upright man, a rare commodity nowaday, it was you and Cliff Schmidt who hired me in May of ’64 at RRD printing. Thank you both for that opportunity. My heart goes out to your family, I know their grief. For I buried my wife in May after 56 yrs. I will keep you and your family in my continuing prayers. When I too reach the shores of Heaven may our paths cross again.
