Ellis C. Kimmich, 80

Ellis C. Kimmich, 80, formerly of Millersville, passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy with his family by his side, on Saturday, October 20, 2018. Born in Lancaster, Ellis was the son of the late Richard A. Kimmich and Iona (Deverter) Reece. He was the loving husband of the late Sylvia Marie (Trayer) Kimmich, who passed away in 2017.
Ellis was a 1956 Graduate of Manheim Twp. High School and proudly served in the US Air Force during peace time. He was the founder of Kimmich’s Painting & Wall Coverings, Inc. in Lancaster. Along with his son Chuck, they are proudly celebrating 50 years (1968-2018) in business. Ellis was a proud member of the Romeos, the Elks Club of Lancaster BPOE #134 and the Millersville VFW Post #7294. He was a 32nd degree Mason, F & AM. Ellis served as the past president of Sertoma Club of Lancaster and earned the Distinguished Gold Coat Honor Presidents Award. Ellis loved 3 things, boating, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially, his grandchildren. He was most relaxed when he was on or near the water
He was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lancaster where he served on the Maintenance, Restoration Committee, and Hospitality Committee.
Ellis is survived by his four children: E. Charles “Chuck” II, husband of Elizabeth, of Lancaster; Jeffrey D., husband of Diana K., of Downingtown; Susan M. Davis, wife of Thomas E., of Manheim; and Gregory S., husband of Donna J., of Bellefonte. His siblings, Luther, husband of Cathy, of Lancaster; Jere, husband of Ada, of Lancaster; John, husband of Barbara, of Kennesaw, GA; Carol Ackerman, wife of Wilson, of Columbia; and LaRaine Witmer, of Mt. Union. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Danielle, Emily, Ryan, Tina, Olivia, Thomas, Zachary, and Ethan; and one great-grandchild, Truman. Ellis is preceded in death by his brother Richard.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8PM, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 8PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM, Friday, October 26, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Rev. Allan F. Wolfe as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10AM until 11AM. Interment service will follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph St., Lancaster, PA 17603 or Hospice and Community care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy, PA 17552.

my name is gary mcvaugh i had the great pleasure to meet ellis and take care of his lawn for 2 or 3 years he was such a pleasent  person to talk to sorry i didnt get to say good bye but we will meet again god bless wait for me .

So sorry for such a great loss to the Kimmich family. Unlce Ellis was a great man and was loved by many.  He will be greatly missed.  He is now with the love of his life again and you all have 2 guardian angels watching over you.  Love and hugs to everyone.

Dear Kimmich Family,
We wanted to take a moment and express our deepest sympathy. Ellis was a good man,husband, father, grandfather, and yes,even a great grandfather.  He leaves behind a beautiful family, wonderful friends, and a was a respected business owner.  He will be remembered and greatly missed by many. We know God placed him his loving arms and brought him home. He is at piece and filled with love and resting with is lovely bride. Just wanted to share my condlence on the passing of Ellis. We had many a good time in Hatteras fishing and just joking around. Now he will be sharing the great fishing hole with his buddy Dan Groff until we all meet again.

We are so sorry for the entire family.  Ellis was always a true gentleman to me, and a mentor as a great Sertoman.  I loved his mischievous laugh.  He will be missed by so many friends.
