Elizabeth M. Wilkinson, 82

Elizabeth M. (Laushey) Wilkinson, 82, of Lancaster, passed away, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd D. and Alta B. (Burkey) Laushey. Elizabeth was the wife of the late John V. Wilkinson who died in 2007.

Elizabeth was employed as a secretary for the County of Lancaster before her retirement in 1992. She was active in the Lions Club and Coast Guard Aux. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a passed director of the Alpha Club of Columbia. Elizabeth was a member of Hamilton Park United Church of Christ. She enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Elizabeth is survived by 3 sons; Kenneth S. Shertzer husband of Judy L. of Lebanon, Thomas L. Shertzer husband of Ursula M. of Lexington, S.C., and Michael A. Shertzer husband of Brigida of Dallastown, Pa. 4 grandchildren; Amy Wolfe wife of Alex, Gregory, Alexandra, and Nicole Shertzer. 5 step-grandchildren; Mark Wilkinson husband of Sandie, Jeff Wilkinson husband of Susan, Joseph, Patrick, and Jaclynn Anstine. 2 step-great grandchildren; Michael and Mitchell Wilkinson. And a sister; Helen L. Kinsel wife of Rev. Glenn of Hanover.She was preceded in death by a sister Charlotte L. Masur.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 1, 2009 at Hamilton Park United Church of  Christ 1210 Maple Ave. Lancaster 17603 at 11 a.m. Family and Friends will be received at the church before the service from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow at Bird in Hand United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Saddened to hear of Betty’s death.  I had intended getting up to the home to see her this week.  She went quickly.  Lou and I are praying for her and for the family.
