Eileen K. McCarry, 89

December 26, 2020

Eileen (Kennedy) McCarry, 89, of Lititz and formerly of Drexel Hill, PA passed away on December 26, 2020. She was born in Philadelphia, and was one of eight children of the late John and Mary (Corr) Kennedy.

Her beloved husband Charlie passed away in 2000. Her oldest son, John predeceased Eileen in 2019. She is survived by her two sons, Joe (Judy) of Springfield, PA, Charlie from Glen Mills, PA and her daughter, Reeny Morell (Tom) from Lancaster as well as 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, husband, and son were her 7 siblings, Joseph, Sister Ann Miriam RSM, John, Thomas, Julia Hagenbach, Virginia, and Edward.

Eileen graduated from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia in 1950. She was retired from Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital where she was employed for many years. She was an avid sports fan of the Philadelphia Sports teams.

Eileen’s fondest memories centered around Irish celebrations, family gatherings, and sitting on the rocks at 33rd street in Sea Isle City, NJ.

Due to the potential risks presented by COVID-19 and the associated restrictions on in-person gatherings, there will be a private service for immediate family only. The family requests if you would like to participate in the funeral mass, you do so by live streaming it online at sjnlancaster.org at 1:00pm on January 5, 2021.

Thank you, Reenie and Tom, for letting us participate virtually in Eileen’s funeral Mass.  It was very meaningful and a marvelous testimony to a wonderful woman and faithful prayer warrior.  We love you both and you have enriched our lives in more ways than you know!  Tom and Celine

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only take the best!
I’ll forever cherish our long sports talks and always reminding me to stay thankful for everything I have. I am forever blessed to call you MomMom
Love you always and forever MomMom
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Jimmy McCarry

My fond memories of Eileen Kennedy McCarry began so many years ago when I was a child through my mother, Rosemary Noon Nash, who was a friend to the Kennedy family and spent good times with Eileen and others at the Kennedy Sea Isle Home. Our families lived in Drexel Hill, PA, and managed to stay in touch as years passed.  More recently Eileen and I were phone and mail friends across the miles.  She had great Catholic faith, a strong Irish will, and was generous and loving with her time and resources to family and friends, and to so many in need. I will miss her calls, cards and notes.  I know there is a new angel in heaven watching over, loving, and helping all of those she knows and loves.  God willing we will meet again in heaven special friend.  I will keep you and your family in my prayers.  Requiescat in pace!
