Edna Ruth Diedrich, 90, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Born August 5, 1926, in West New York, New Jersey, Edna was the daughter of the late Paul W. and Agnes (nee Throm) Ackermann. Edna’s husband, Walter Otto Diedrich, to whom she was married for 61 years, preceded her in death in 2009.
Edna graduated from Cliffside Park High School and The Packard Secretarial School in New York City. She and her husband, Walter, owned and operated 2 fabric stores in Bergen County, New Jersey. Edna also worked as a Legal Secretary. In 1984, Edna & Walter retired to the Lancaster area to be closer to their grandchildren. Condolences to the Family

Although we barely knew Edna personally, we do know well her success in the upbringing of her children.  Knowing her daugher Judy as the wonderful person and friend that she is provides an attestment to the nurturing qualities that Edna surely posessed as a mother and human being.  In this time of grievance, let this part of Edna’s legacy be yet another source of comfort to the family and all who knew her.

We are proud to have known Edna, and her late husband, Walter, and their lovely daughter, Judith. Our hearts go out to their family, and we will keep Edna in our thoughts this holiday season. We are thankful that Edna is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husband. She will live in our hearts forever.

Keeping the Diedrich family in my prayers. I was fortunate to be one of Edna’s home health aides when she lived at ValleyBrook.  We enjoyed discussing Judge Judy, laughed at Lawrence Welk, and she was never without Judy’s chicken and rice. Not to mention Turkey Hill Dutch Chocolate icecream in the evenings.  Edna always spoke so lovingly of her family.  She taught me about the various birds that she spotted. And about vacationing at Lake George. Before she moved out of ValleyBrook, Edna gave me a clipping from one of her bleeding heart plants. That was over 6 years ago, and each Spring our yard fills with bleeding hearts. Edna will alwys be a part of my heart. In sympathy, Nicole Martin
