E. Lynn Ervin, 77, of 158 River Bend Park, Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Marianne W. Weicksel Ervin, with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage this past October 20th. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Edwin S. and Evelyn B. Bomsted Ervin.

He had also worked  as a Personnel Director for the Post Office during his career.  Lynn had previously worked in the personnel departments of the Hamilton Watch Co., Hubley Toy Co., Hershey Estates, and the KD Corp.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served during the Korean War in the US Navy in the Medical Corps.

Lynn attended Mechanicsburg High School, the University of Pittsburgh prior to his military service, and graduated in 1957 with a BS from Temple University. He loved to golf and play pool, playing with friends at the Lancaster BPO Elks 134. Lynn was very involved in local theater productions and he was a member of the Music Comedy Guild.

We were so sorry to read of Lynn’s passing. John has warm memories of working on shows with him — starting at Hamilton Watch, and in many other venues thereafter. It was always an enjoyable experience.

We remember Lynn as a vibrant, fun-loving man whose personality lit up a room. Our deepest sympathy to Marianne.
Affectionately,
John and Carole Bitts

I met Lynn while working at Nolts Pond. I must admit surprise when I saw the obit in the paper. We wish his family well.

Dear Marianne,
Cyndi Simpson, the chaplain you spoke to at the hospital, told me about Lynn. I’m so sorry! You are in my thoughts and prayers. As you know, my father always thought the world of you and so do I.
Love,
Rachel Hazeltine Gawn
