Dorothy McCaskey, 88

Dorothy (Hildebrand) McCaskey, 88, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Anne Retirement Community, where she had resided since November, 2006.

Born in Lancaster, she was the wife of the late Walter D. McCaskey, who passed away in 1993, and the daughter of the late R. Maurice and Marie (Derridinger) Hildebrand.

A 1942 graduate of Catholic High School, she was a former long-time member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Dorothy enjoyed travel, camping, lighthouses, music, and dancing.  Dotty loved all food, as long as it was made from chocolate.

Her most enjoyable moments in her life were the times she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dotty is survived by her children:  Joseph W. McCaskey and his wife Virginia A. of Ephrata; Janice M. McCaskey and her partner Roxanne Koch of Lancaster; David A. McCaskey and his wife Donna M. of Landisville; Curtis R. McCaskey and his wife M. Kathleen of Lancaster; Deborah A. Lynch and her husband Jerome of Willow Street; Annice I. Bailey and her husband Mark of Willow Street; Amy D. Gregg and her husband Dean of Salunga; and Colin R. McCaskey and his wife Debra of Mount Joy; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers:  James R. Hildebrand and his wife Virginia of Columbia and Richard M. Hildebrand and his wife Ruth of Millville, NJ; and one sister, Kathryn P. Finefrock of Lancaster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 22, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut St., Lancaster with the Rev. Michael Messner as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with a Rosary Service at 8:30 PM.

We send our prayers and sympathy to all the family members especially to Joe  And Ginny.  We will not be able to attend the viewing due to  a prior engagement. Dave, Donna and the entire family of Dorothy, my heartfelt sympathy goes to all of you. I feel blessed to have been a part of your family in caring for your Mom. I will most definitely miss her and her sense of humor. Keep your memories close for they will always be there.  Thanks for sharing her with me these past several years.  God’s bleesing to all of you during this most difficult time.
