Doris R. Winkleman, 79

Doris R. Winkleman, 79, formerly of Columbia, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Brethren Village, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband the late Rodney D. Winkleman, Sr. died in 1990. Born in Columbia, Doris was the daughter of the late Alvin D., Sr. and Gertrude Smith Rupp. She worked as a seamstress for the former Little Prince Silk Mill and then as a prep cook at Hinkle’s Pharmacy, both in Columbia.

Doris is survived by three children, Rodney D., Jr. “Wink”, husband of Debra A. Winkleman, Lancaster, Wendy W., wife of Brian K. Bachman, Landisville and Jerry D., husband of Kate Beck Winkleman, Columbia; nine grandchildren, Sam, Jesse and Adam Sparks, Sarah Winkleman, Jared and Rachael Bachman, Megan Winkleman, Ryan Beck and Kane Baham; great grandson Dain Sparks; and three siblings Miriam, wife of John Jones, Dennis Mick Rupp and Russell, husband of Penny Rupp, all of Columbia. Doris was preceded in death by siblings Alvin Rupp, Jr., Warren Rupp, Betty Campbell and Gloria Mutzabaugh.

Her family extends a warm thank you to the staff of Brethren Village and Hospice of Lancaster County for the loving care they gave to Doris.

A Graveside Service will take place 11 AM Friday, April 13, 2012 at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in Columbia, with The Rev. Ronald L. Bachman officiating. Please omit flowers.
