Doris L. Barilar, 89

Doris L. Barilar, 89, of Willow Street, PA, and formerly of Lititz and Williamsport, passed on Monday, January 21, 2019.

She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Barilar, who passed away in 2006. Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Bruce E. and Pauline Walker Lape.

Doris had been a homemaker and had also worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance in the statistical department in Williamsport. Doris was very involved in her community, being a member of the Amity Club, the Clio Club and the American Business Womens Assn. She also enjoyed flower gardening, stitching, and loved to read and was a member of The Womens Book Club of Williamsport, and after moving to Lititz, started the club there. She was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star in Montoursville.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lititz.

Doris is survived by her sons: John A. Barilar of Chestertown, MD and Bruce A. married to Karen Barilar of Lititz, her daughter Aline L. DeBeky of Columbia, he three grandchildren Austin, Jacqueline, and Larissa, and by her sister, Sandra Foreman of Phillipsburg, PA. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Marie Barilar, and her sister, Shirley Taylor.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial service on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 West Orange St., Lititz, PA. The family will receive friends at a gathering at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Doris’ memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
