Donald G. Vollmer, 88

Donald G. Vollmer, 88, passed away April 26, 2018 at Conestoga View Nursing Home, Lancaster. He was born April 12, 1930 in Binghamton, NY, the son of the late Allen and Agnes (Hollihan) Vollmer.
He was a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He was employed with Zollinger-Harned, Allentown for over 20 years, retiring as President. He later was employed with Chesapeake Group, Baltimore as an Investment Advisor, following that he worked part-time during retirement as a courtesy driver for Lancaster Motor Company. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church, Lancaster and had attended Reamstown Church of God, where he was active in the choirs, as well as the Lancaster Community Chorus.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jean (Franklin) Vollmer in 2012. He is survived by his loving family, daughters; Carol Chintala and longtime companion, Julius Kowalczyk, Coatsville, PA, Ann E. Barry and husband Timothy, Canadensis, PA, four grandchildren; Nicole Chintala, Alexander Chintala (Hannah), Kimberly Barry-Wilmot (Jeremy), Donald W. Barry, a great-granddaughter, Bailey Welton, and his sister, Lola Shepherd, Phillipsburg, NJ. He was preceded in death by a son, Allen F. Vollmer, son-in-law, Jeffery Chintala, and sister, Doris Vollmer.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. Memorial service will be 7:00 PM, Friday, May 4, 2018 at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Spina Bifida Resource, 209 E. State St., Quarryville, PA, 17566.

Don was a real blessing at Reamstown Church Of God. We loved having him with us! I had the opportunity to have some good conversations with him, and learned much about his past. He was a great brother in Christ!

It was so great to have know Don and his wife Jean these many years. Also was able to take Jean to our Bible study in the past. Don came to our hymn sings each month in Manheim. He was so liked and loved by many of us at New Life Church. Pat Eckman
