Diane Louise Haines, 73

Diane Louise Haines, 73, of Lancaster passed away at Hospice and Community Care on May 23, 2018. Born in Coatesville, Diane was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Dorothy (Chryst) Hatfield. She was the loving wife of the late James R. Haines Sr for over 50 years before his passing in 2012.
A graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Diane went on to work for Lancaster Press for over 20 years, own and operate Stienbecker’s of Cabbage Hill with her husband James, and, most recently, serve as a Crossing Guard for over 27 years for Lancaster County. She was a dedicated crossing guard and loved seeing the kids every day. She also loved shopping and making candy for her family and friends.
Diane was a mother, grandmother, and special aunt. She is survived by her son James R. Haines Jr., his wife Allison and their children Morgan Logan, Jason Haines, and Colby Haines. She is also survived by her siblings William Hatfield, Lessie Murse, Brenda Balmer, J. Freeland Hatfield, and Twila Hatfield. She is preceded in death by her brother John Hatfield.
A viewing will be held Tuesday May 29, 2018 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home on 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Viewing will continue on Wednesday, May 30, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at First Reformed Church UCC located at 40 E Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17602 with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00AM. Interment at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Diane’s name to Hospice and Community Care at 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

We are so sorry we are not able to be there to support them during this time of greiving and want you to know you are all in our prayers. May God carry you while you mourn your loss. The members of the Lancaster County Constable Association would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to the Haines, Hatfield and Balmer families.  We share in your sorrow for your loss of your loved one, Diane.
We realize and so appreciate your family’s dedication and commitment to the public in the protective services area. We’re sure Diane was a very supportive and encouraging person in order that members of her immediate as well as extended family could serve as constables, police officers and fire fighters.

So sorry for your loss! May God give you strength during this sad time!  Diane was one of the most dedicated and loyal crossing guards!  Loved working with her! So sad I am out of town and will not be there but will be praying for the family! 🙏🏼💜
