Denis J. Foley III, 55

Denis J. Foley III, 55, of Millersville, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy after a 6 ½ year battle with multiple myeloma cancer.

Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of Denis J. Foley Jr. and Patricia L. (Benson) Foley of Millersville.

Denis attended St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Manheim and St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Millersville.
He was a graduate of Penn Manor High School and Millersville University, with a BS Degree in Psychology.

He was employed for 9 years by the Community Action Program at the Shelter for Abused Women, and also worked in reservations and maintenance for Sight and Sound. He was an avid reader and collector of all genres of literature.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Kevin E. Foley of Millersville, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster with the Rev. Lawrence W. Sherdel as Celebrant. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

I was in the same class as Dennis, Penn Manor High School class of 79. I didn’t know Dennis very well , but in the instances I did see him, he always had that big smile. You could tell he was a genuinely nice person. Dennis passed away much too young, but the memories he gave to others remain forever. My sincerest condolences to his family and close friends.
