David H. Maxfield, 74

David H. Maxfield, 74, of Lititz, PA, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center. During his battle with AML, he participated in studies to help support research for AML. Born in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Frank Hiram Maxfield and Marian Lucille Ulrey. David was the husband of Jane A. (Kistler) Maxfield whom he married on May 30, 1964.

He graduated from Sycamore High School in Montgomery, OH, where he played on the football team that took the state championship. David went on to study Agricultural Biochemistry at Ohio State University. Following graduation from Ohio State, his first job took him to New Knoxville, OH. He was an Agricultural Biochemist for 32 years in Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania. David worked for Turkey Hill for 28 years as a manager. He was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, Lancaster Chapter. His faith took him to the Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, OH, where he met Jane in the church choir. David and his family attended Lititz United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Jane, David is survived by his children: Philip Maxfield of Shreveport, LA, Phyllis Cordova of Warrenton, VA, Pamela Clarkson of Fort Wayne, IN and Peter Maxfield of Lititz, PA; 12 grandchildren; and two sisters: Joyce Berry of Sharonville, OH and Marlene Proctor of Goshen, OH.

David was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Maxfield.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 E. Market Street, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received from 9-11 AM at the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lititz United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Church Choir.
