Daniel R. Eby, 41

September 16, 2017

Daniel R. Eby, 41, began his new journey on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Dan was born on February 28, 1976 in Lancaster, PA, where he resided most of his life. He most recently lived in Bristol, PA.
Dan experienced happiness in the small moments of his life. He found peace sitting by the ocean and breathing in the salty ocean air. He found contentment listening to his treasured record collection and enjoying his favorite music. Dan’s greatest pleasure came from spending time with his two boys, sharing his passions with them, in turn learning from them and watching them grow. Dan viewed his two sons as his greatest accomplishment and he spoke of them with great pride and love.
Dan also took tremendous pride in his work as a helicopter mechanic, most recently working for Sterling Helicopters in Croydon, PA. He also completed 6 years of service with the United States Army.
Dan appreciated and cared deeply for his friends, many of whom were lifelong. As in all areas of his life, Dan found fulfillment in the everyday moments, making meals and entertaining for his family and friends, grilling out, telling stories and sharing laughter over happy memories from times past. Dan’s loved ones will hold him close in their heart, will cherish the memory of his smile and his engaging laugh and will live their lives in honor of those small moments in which he was able to find peace.
Dan is survived in death by: his beloved sons, Ian R. Eby and Colin M. Eby; his mother, Patty L. Newswanger, Lancaster, PA; his brothers and keepers: Kyle E. Eby (Keri), Lancaster, PA, Robert “Bobby” Eby (Jessica), Conestoga, PA, Cory Eby, Pequea, PA; step-mother: Trudy Eby, Lancaster, PA; the mother of his children, Jaime M. Eby, Millersville, PA; and nieces and nephews: Anderson, Jenna and Alyssa. Dan is also survived by countless, loving friends who will never forget the times they shared with him.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (www.dbsalliance.org), 55 E. Jackson Blvd., Suite 490, Chicago, IL 60604.

I served in the US Army with Daniel at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and I am just now finding out about his passing.  My heart goes out to all of his loved ones, especially his children.  He lives on in our memories.

I had the pleasure of “meeting” Daniel a few years ago. In the few times we had to chat he provided me with some clarity and reassurance. It was nice to relate to someone not in denial after all these years. May his soul finally be at peace. Erin (Sterback) Rankin

I write with great sadness over the loss of a great friend and father. I always knew that Dan dealt with his fair share of darkness, but oddly all I remember of our times together was laughter and fun. Dan had a smile that lit up his entire face, he told stories that had the whole room in stitches, he was magnetic in a way that made you want to be in his company. Under all of that goofiness was a desire to be the best person he could be. And that’s what Matt and I will remember of Dan, these great times with a friend that we’ll always hold with the utmost love and respect. To Jaime and the boys, our hearts are heavy for you. We love you and we know that Dan did too.

To all who loved Dan. This is such a good picture of him. So handsome and such a beautiful smile. He was such an interesting and likable young man. We share the sadness that he is gone.
