Condolences to the Family

January 25, 2015

Dear Fran,
Sandy and I wish to offer our most sincere condolences on your loss of Chip.
Your loss is our loss.
I was so proud to have known him and to have served a tour with him in Viet Nam.  Chip was a person you could count on in any situation and you knew he would always have your back.
Chip was not just a friend, he was a brother.
i am so happy that we were all able to get together this past summer.  After seeing everyone, it didn’t even seem like 45 years had passed since being in Nam.
Fran, prayers are coming your way and if there is anything we can do please let us know and we will be there for you.
Love You and Chip,
Wayne and Sandy

To the friends and family of Chip (aka Dale) Beaner,    It was a sad, sad day to learn of Chip’s passing.  I, along with everyone else, was praying and hoping against hope for a better outcome of his recent illness.  We just have to take heart in God’s plans for us, that we have no foreknowledge of the timing of…    I try to take some very small comfort in having seen Chip again after a short pause of only 44 years.Chip, Wayne, Lee and I were Army buddies stationed together at a basecamp near a small villagein Vietnam named Cu Chi.  Yes, the Cu Chi with the famous tunnels.  Those tunnels that are nowa tourist attraction.  Irony.  Somehow the four of us had kept in contact throughout all our travels, tribulations and relocations. When we met last summer at Lee’s house, it was if we had not been partedfor four+ decades!  Brothers in arms we were!  Leaning on each other and holding each other up… we really were just kids at the time.  Our next meet was to be this spring at The Wall in DC.  Chip always had trepidations about going to The Wall, maybe more than the rest of us, but I had hoped we could all go together and again, like Cu Chi, help each other through it.  It is not for the faint of heart if you have a connection to Vietnam or that time in history.       I will always remember Chip as the cool, calm, collected one of our little bunch of crazies.  He was the Cool Hand Luke of the group.  He would casually throw out a friendly barb at me and then grin slylywhen he knew he had gotten one over on me;  i didn’t understand all of them… he is/was/will always bemore sophisticated than I. (i might be the Forrest Gump of this group)  He was a beautiful person and I loved him as a brother.  Brothers in arms; then, now and forever.     My heartfelt condolences to Fran and to Chip’s family and friends.  bill woolsey
