Cynthia A. Mertz, 60

Cynthia A. Mertz, 60, of West Hempfield Twp., went home to be with The Lord surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Hospice & Community Care. She was born in Lancaster to Gloria Leonard Helm and the late Kenneth Brenner. Cindy shared 43 years of marriage with her husband John M. Mertz, Sr.
A very hard worker, she owned and operated Mertz’s Moving with her husband John. Cindy currently was an auditor for Exide Technologies in Lampeter. She loved family time, going to Florida, RV travel, yard sales, watching the Hallmark Channel and riding her Harley Sportster.
In addition to her husband John and mother Gloria, Cindy is survived by five children: John M. Mertz, Jr, husband of Rhonda and their sons John M., III and Shawn D. Mertz, Elissa A. Allison and her children Skyler M., Austin G. and Annabelle N. Allison, Danielle L. Mertz, fiancé of James Massante, Jr. and her children Abigail R. and Caleb J. Mertz, Timothy P. Mertz, husband of Amanda and their son Sullivan Timothy Mertz, and Breanne K. Mertz; her three siblings: Jill, wife of Ron Krous, Vicki, wife of Brad Reed and Kenneth Brenner, husband of Cindy; and multiple fur babies and fur grandbabies.
Cindy’s family will greet friends from 4 to 6 PM, followed by a celebration of her life at 6 PM led by Pastor Moses Baker, on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at New Life Church, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602. Everyone is welcome to remain after the service to fellowship and have dinner with the Mertz family. Interment is private. Please omit flowers. Mertz family, May God bless all of you in this great loss. She will be missed by so many. She was a great co-worker and friend. She had a great sense of humor when working with her. She was taken way to soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.  Doris and Ronnie

My condolences to the Mertz family and friends. Cindy was always a valued hardworking employee during her time at Exide. When she worked in the warehouse as one of my employees she was quick to learn and always on top of her job duties. She will be missed tremendously. Jim Stauffer

I considered it a blessing to have worked and known Cindy. She was always helpful and a person which was able to be honestly straight fowrward with her opinion. I will miss her.
