Craig P. Kacskos, 55
Craig P. Kacskos, 55, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Saturday February 20, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mt Joy after a year long battle with bladder cancer. He was born in Aurora, IL to Virginia Kacskos and the late John Kacskos.
He is survived by his wife Janet Kacskos of twenty-two years. They were married in Loveland, CO on August 8, 1987.
Craig was a member of Hempfield United Methodist Church.
Craig was a journalist for twenty-five years for a variety of newspapers. He also was involved in real estate investing.
Craig was a member of the Sierra Club of Lancaster and the Southern Utah Wilderness Association. Craig enjoyed skiing, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, a general love of the outdoors, and traveling. Craig was a great father and very proud of his son, Shane.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet and son Shane Kacskos, of Lancaster, are his brother, Steve Kacskos, of Oregon, and two sisters, Sue Kacskos, of Oregon, and Cheryl Kacskos, of California.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service at Hempfield United Methodist Church 3050 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, PA 17601 on Monday February 22, 2010 at 5pm with Rev. Keith Braucher officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at the church at 4pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to World Vision in Craig’s memory. Contributions may be mailed to HUMC c/o Craig Kacskos Memorial, 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601. All of us from the Sierra Club Lancaster Group who knew and worked with Craig are deeply saddened by his untimely death. Craig lent his time and enthusiasm to help with the Lancaster Group’s projects. His tenure on the board was appreciated by all who served with him. Craig’s love of the environment was evident to all who worked with him. We will miss him greatly.
