Charles M. “Chuck” Diirner, 43

June 06, 2016

Charles M. “Chuck” Diirner, 43, of Akron, died from a work accident in Allentown on Monday, June 6, 2016. He was born in Lancaster to Karen M. (Wiener) Diirner of Ephrata and the late Charles L. Diirner. Chuck was the loving husband of Jessica (Baker) Diirner for 14 years.

He was president and co-owner with his brother Jake of CJ Diirner & Sons Roofing, Inc. in Ephrata, specializing in church roofs and steeples. Chuck was a determined, dedicated and hardworking business man who could sell ice to an Eskimo or a church their own front door, often working from sunup to sundown. He lived by “Go Big or Go Home.”

Chuck was good hearted. He never stopped helping people, especially homeless people he met while on city jobsites. He would respond financially to radio announcements for blood donations. He was very eclectic and could get along with everyone.

He was able to stop and enjoy life, by going fishing, grilling chicken, going on cruises and driving his Z06 Corvette.

In addition to his wife Jessica and mother Karen, Chuck is survived by his grandmother, Ruth Ellen (Allison) Diirner of Huntington; three children: Brooke G., Marcus A. T. and Charlie R. Diirner all of Akron; three brothers, Jacob L.Diirner husband of Heidi (Nace) of Ephrata, Jason L. Diirner, husband of Melody (Holbrook) of Ephrata and Lee R. Diirner, husband of Gina (McGinnis) of Akron; and his aunt, Mary Diirner of East Petersburg. Chuck was preceded in death by an infant child.

To the Diirner family, I  first met Chuck at least 12 years ago, when we retain him to work on one, of many, of our buildings over the years. He was a very professional person to work with and very knowledgeable of his trade. I am sure Chuck is right now telling someone above that they need to do this or that to their roofs. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Mourning brings us great sorrow. While it is difficult to lose ones we love, memories of the times they brought us joy and laughter bring us peace. May the love and support from family and friends also provides great assistance in the grieving process.
Please know that God feels for you in your pain and provides comfort in times of distress. (1 Peter 5:7; 2 Corinthians 1:3,4) May these thoughts give you strength during this extremely difficult time.
