Catherine E. “Kitty” Nichols, 79

Catherine E. “Kitty” Nichols, 79 of New Providence, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Lancaster, Kitty was the daughter of the late John W. and Edith Craley McGuire. Kitty’s husband the late Ambrose W. Nichols, III died in 1999.

A 1950 graduate from Lancaster Catholic High School, Kitty worked as a secretary for Pennsylvania Malleable, Way Oil and finally Carlos R. Leffler, Inc. before retiring in the 1990’s. She then continued to work part time at Willow Valley Resorts.

She was a faithful member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church for many years. In the 1950’s Kitty proudly served with the USO organization, helping with the weekly dances and entertainment for service men from Bainbridge Naval Station and Aberdeen Army Station.

In August of this year Kitty would have celebrated her 80th birthday and also 40 years of continuous service and dedication to a spiritual fellowship of recovery. Kitty shared her love, kindness and positive attitude with many people over the years and she will be sorely missed.

Kitty is survived by her loving nieces Barbara Stockton, wife of David Wyland and Jane Eary, great-nieces Tiffany and Tiara and great-nephew Devon Randolph. She was preceded in death by her sister Anna M. Osborne and brother-in-law Fred Osborne.

A Viewing will be held from 1:15 to 2:15pm on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Friday, at 3pm with The Rev. Norman C. Hohenwarter, Jr. as Celebrant. Private Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Dear Family,
I visited with Kitty last Monday.  She was a delight, as always…  Beautiful, inside and out.  She spoke of her nieces kindness to her and I just want to express my sympathy to all her family.  She will be dearly missed.  She was so loved.
