Condolences to the Family

SMSGT Carper W Hutchison came to the Virginia Air National Guard in the 60’s and soon became an intergal member of the Security Force where I was at the time an Enlisted Airman striving to become as good an airman as i recognized that Carper was.  I worked with him as a fellow Security Police Officer and I especially remember our Annual Field Trip to Cape Code where I was in the same barracks as Sgt Hutchison and begin to worry that his coughing would be the death of him if he didn’t stop smoking those awful cigars. Amazing he did give up this cigar habit and as we see he lived a long and outstanding life.
While he was leading us in the Weapons System Security Flight Hutch was probably this most knowledgeable officer of all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)I knew in the Security Field.  He did much in assisting me in my career with the Air Guard and becoming the Officer that I became.
Pauline, it has been a long time since Hutch retired and you all moved to OHIO but my heart felt sympathy is being extended to you and to the children Robert, Terry and Lewis.  I would very much like to be advised of Hutch’s burial in Newport News as he ment an awful lot to me and to the men of the 192 Weapons Security Flight of the Virginia Air National.
God Bless you all and may Hutch rest in peace!!!!

I’m sorry to hear of Hutch’s passing. I began my military career with him in the security police section. He was a great mentor and person. I remember that smile and cigar. He touched my life by encouraging me to believe in myself, take chances, and move forward. Rest in peace dear patriot.

Terry and Family,
My sincere sympathy to you all on the passing of “Papa Hutch”.  I certainly have fond memories of working with your parents when they bought in Bentley Ridge.  He was such a colorful and easy going individual.  I trust your Mom is bearing up well.

My sincere sympathy and love to your family. I first met Hutch when I was transferred from the active USAF to the Va Air National Guard in February 1974. Hutch took an liking with me because I came from Active Duty and knew all the regulations by number of the Security Section. A year later I became sworned as a Chesterfield County Police Officer until my retirement in 2003. Hutch was a great mentor that sincerely believed in his mission with VA Air National Guard. I’m blessed with the positive influence he had on my life.  God bless you all🇺🇸👍🙏

Special thoughts and prayers for sweet memories of a very special man. Tim said it best, when Uncle Carper came in a room everyone knew he had entered, he filled the room. And always had a big smile, “don’t ya’ll know”. We will miss hearing that. Luv to you and your family at this sad time.

Words cannot express my love for Carper and his wonderful family. They were my family too!  We could hardly wait for you to return to Clover Hollow   He never changed only we all grew older.  Such a loving devoted person to God, country, friends, and above all his family. He was always so proud to share stories and moments together.  My love prayers and thoughts are with you today and tomorrow.
