Carolyn R. Mattiace, 67
Carolyn R. Mattiace, 67, of Lancaster, died Monday, August 31, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy Center.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Doane) Schultz. She was married to Angelo Mattiace for forty-seven years.
A telephone operator for the Medical Bureau of Lancaster, Carolyn retired after eleven years. She was previously employed as a licensed practical nurse at Franklin General Hospital in Valley Stream, NY.
A member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Carolyn was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, where she was an active volunteer with various church functions as well as the Parochial School Lunch Program. She enjoyed crocheting, and watching old movies and soap operas. Carolyn loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her children, Donna I., wife of Dr. Bryan Shapiro of Enid, OK, Michael J. Mattiace, husband of Donna J. of Lancaster, seven grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, and Gerald Carl, Joshua, Britney, Logan, and Sean Mattiace, and one greatgrandson, Nathan Daniel Carl, sister, Jude Rossi of Boca Raton, FL, aunt, Elizabeth Doane of Lancaster, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Janie Drayson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held SATURDAY, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Rev. Mark Weiss as Celebrant. Viewings will be held THURSDAY, September 3, 2009 from 2 until 4 PM and 7 until 9 PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 8:30 PM. The family will receive guests Saturday morning from 10:30 until 11 AM at the church. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. My thoughts and prayers are with Angelo and his children. I will greatly miss Carolyn…We had many good times together. I loved her like a sister. I am very glad that we were all around her when she passed away. She is now at peace and pain free.
I am so sorry for you loss..the time I knew Carol she always was nice to me ..and once even took care of me when I had the flu..I grieve for her husband Angelo, and her daughter Donna and son Mike..her grandchildren..Amanda,Chris and Jerry and great grandson Nathan..and everybody who knew her..I would love to join you, but right now it is difficult to get away from Long Island..but my heart and prayers are with you
