Carmen M. Wojnarowicz, 91

Carmen M. Wojnarowicz, 91 of Columbia passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbia. Born in Matamoros, Mexico and growing up in Corpus Christi, TX she was the daughter of the late Trinidad and Refugia (Cordova) Meza.

Carmen worked at the Olympia Diner in Texas and in 1949  moved to Lancaster and in between raising her family she held several jobs. She worked at the Polan Katz Umbrella Factory as a seamstress, the Howard Johnson Hotel as a waitress and the Baby Dy-dee Service in Lancaster. She also worked at Dart Container in Leola, the former St. Joseph Hospital in the café and lastly at Lancashire Hall. Carmen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lancaster, and had recently attended Holy Trinity in Columbia. She enjoyed dancing, going to yard sales, doing arts and crafts, traveling, walking on the beach picking up sea shells, bowling, gardening, her pets and most of all she always loved family gatherings and being with her family.

She is survived by her children, 2 daughters; Lydia M. Marshall, companion of Steven Lepore of Mountville, Sandy A. Misal, fiance of Alvan Young, of Columbia. 3 Sons; Carlos H. Tober, companion of Vicki Crissman, of Corry, PA, Johnnie Jones, husband of Bonnie (Gainer) Jones, of Lancaster and Jerry E. Jones, of Columbia. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 step-sons; Eloy, Willie, Joe Tober, Jr. and the Cornelius E. Jones relatives of Lancaster and her many nieces and nephews around Texas. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Jose L. Tober, Jack J. Jones and Raymond Wojnarowicz, a daughter, Carmelita Tober, a brother, Nick Meza, 2 sisters, Mary Basaldua and Chana (Meza) Saenz, and a great-granddaughter, Christina M. Albright.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM on Saturday, January 19, 2012 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry St, Columbia, PA 17512 with The Very Rev. Kenneth F. Lawrence as Celebrant. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30-10:30AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
