Carmelo Pacheco Martell, 80
Carmelo Pacheco Martell, 80, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Arcilio and Ramona Martell Pacheco.
He was employed for a number of years in the maintenance division of Tyson, New Holland, and was a member of San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, Lancaster.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his children’s mother, Maria Maldonado of Lancaster; 11 daughters: Maria Acosta-Pacheco (Edgar), Maria Anavitate-Pacheco(Luis), both of Lancaster, Enid Pacheco (Joe), Nelly Pacheco (Walter), both of Puerto Rico; Carmen R. (Tony), Rosario N., Frances I., & Marilyn (Eric) Pacheco, all of Lancaster, Katherine Pacheco (Christian) of Puerto Rico, Velyn M. Pacheco (Angel) of Lancaster; and Lumita Pacheco of Puerto Rico; 4 sons: Carmelo A. Pacheco, Jr and Carlos L. Pacheco (Migdalia), both of Lancaster and Alfredo Pacheco and Jesus Valentine Pacheco, both of Puerto Rico; 59 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren; 4 brothers: Ramone, Antonio, Arcilio, and Joe Pacheco; and 2 sisters: Esther Pacheco and Carmen Torres.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon Thursday, May 2, 2013 at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, 425 S. Duke St., Lancaster, PA with Fr. Allan F. Wolfe as Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster PA, and again one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Burial in Mellinger’s Mennonite Cemetery with full military honors by Red Rose Honor Guard and Vet 21.
