Carl H. Gimber, Sr., 83

Carl H. Gimber, Sr., 83, of Lancaster, PA passed away on February 9, 2017 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son to the late Carl H. & Helen (O’Melia) Gimber. Carl was the husband of Beverly J. (Dieffenbach) Gimber.
Carl graduated from Kingston High School. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. Carl retired as a manager from Watt & Shand with 38 years of service. He was a huge Eagles, Phillies & Flyers fan. He was lettered in football, baseball & basketball. Carl was an avid golfer and was a long time member of Conestoga Country Club, and a previous member of the Lions Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Beverly, are children: Mark R. Gimber, husband of Christine, of Lancaster, Lori A. Sites, wife of Fred, of Mountville, and Matthew J. Gimber, companion of Kristy Eudy, of Midland, NC; step-children: Jay H. Miller, husband of Tamara, of Lancaster, Mark S. Miller, husband of Deborah, of Lancaster, Gary L. Miller, husband of Michele, of Conestoga, Brad P. Miller, husband of Karyn, of Lancaster, and Alan P. Miller, companion of Shari Werner, of Mount Joy; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Kiwak of Souderton, PA; and his beloved west highland terrier, Sophie.
Carl was preceded in death by a son, Carl H. Gimber, Jr. and a sister, Marilyn Kennedy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. A viewing will be held from 10 AM-12 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave, Lebanon, PA 17042.

i had the pleasure of meeting “Uncle Carl” about 12 or so years ago on a golf trip with the Kiwaks and some others…what a great guy, lots of fun to be around and we was very supportinve one year after I lost my 18 year old son…enjoyed avery minute with Uncle Carl, he’ll be missed..please accept my heart felt condolences, God Bless, John from Boston

Bev…We were so sorry to learn of Carl’s passing.  He will be greatly missed by his neighborhood and friends.  Fritz enjoyed playing golf with him when we visited Lancaster, and we both enjoyed him by the pool and at Coffee and Donuts…..Wednesday mornings won’t be the same without him. We hold tight to the memory of you both at Fritz’s 75th birthday celebration last fall.
