Bruce A. Burkholder, 92

Bruce A. Burkholder, 92, longtime resident of Lititz, PA passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Luther Acres. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Arville and Esther (Witmer) Burkholder. He was the loving husband of Ruth (Diehm) Burkholder who passed away in 1998.
He graduated from JP McCaskey High school and later attended F&M College. Bruce worked as a pharmacy technician for over 50 years for Smithgall’s Pharmacy in Lancaster.
Bruce was a Civil War aficionado and loved anything that was involved in the war. He visited a lot of the major battlefields and was a member of the Friends of Gettysburg organization and had been a member of the Lititz Jaycees. He was a Lititz football and Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan and loved big band music.
Bruce proudly served in the US Army as a medic during WWll.
He was a lifelong member of the Lititz Moravian Church where he volunteered for the Love Feast services and was a part of the prayer chain.
He is survived by a daughter, Julie Mars, wife of Richard of Glenmoore, PA; three grandchildren, Melaney Holtz, wife of Dennis, Jill Sullivan and Peter Burkholder, husband of Brittney; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Burkholder, wife of the late Thomas S. Burkholder and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Young.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Lititz Moravian Congregation Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz, PA 17543. Private Interment will be held in Lititz Moravian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Caring Fund at Luthercare, 600 E. Main St, Lititz, PA 17543 or Lititz Moravian Church Archives at the above address.
