Bill Baldwin Sr., 73

August 29, 2016

Bill Baldwin Sr., 73, of Lancaster, died Monday, August 29, 2016 in his residence after a courageous 6-year battle with cancer.
Born in New Bedford, MA, he was the husband of Fran (Harney) Baldwin of Lancaster, and the son of the late Rev. Russell William and Dorothy Edna (Hauswirth) Baldwin.
Bill was the Executive Vice President of Hall Communications, Inc., where he was still employed after 42 years of service. In 2012, Bill was honored to win the PA Broadcaster of the Year award. He did not consider Hall Communications his job; he considered them his family, especially Art Rowbotham, owner, whom he considered a brother.
Some of Bill’s greatest pastimes were watching the Red Sox and Patriots play, but his favorite of all was being part of all of his grandchildren’s interests and passions. You could always find him on the sidelines cheering them on. One of the last events he attended was his granddaughter Cassidy’s softball game, where she received the game ball. She immediately passed it to her grandfather.
He was a member of Rotary and Lancaster Commercial Travelers, and was also a Board Member of PA Association of Broadcasters and the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by his children: Heidi Vance and her husband Clint of Charlotte, NC; Billy and his wife Sam of Lancaster; Carrie Nice and her husband Bill of Charleston, SC; and Tommy and his wife Kara of Lancaster; 8 grandchildren: Ragen, Riley, C.J., Cassidy, Billy, Collin, Caitlin, and Ryan; one brother, Ed Baldwin of MA; and his beloved dog, Brady. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Russ.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz with Rev. Mark Thiboldeaux officiating. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to Pediatric Enrichment Fund online at http://childrens.pennstatehealth.org/community/give.
