Betty Virginia Kieffer, 96

Betty Virginia Kieffer, of Lancaster, PA passed away January 3, 2020 at age 96. Born July 2, 1923, in Easton, PA she was the daughter of the late Floyd Raymond Kieffer and Mary Mitchell Kieffer. Betty was the sister of the late William Henry Kieffer, 2nd and sister-in-law of the late Jane Howell Kieffer. She is survived by nephews William Henry Kieffer, III, and his husband, James Michael May of Boston, MA; James Dale Kieffer of Summit, NJ; and niece Barrie Howell Kieffer, of Brooklyn Park MN. Also surviving are several great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Betty was a graduate of Easton (PA) High School. From 1949 to her retirement in 1986, she held a number of positions at the American Chemical Society in Washington, DC, to include editorial assistant, assistant editor and budget officer. During her lifetime, she resided in Easton, PA, Arlington, VA, Falls Church VA, Harrisonburg VA, Brevard, NC, Mauldin, SC, Greenville, SC, Hersey PA and Lancaster PA. She loved to move and did so about every 3 years or so during her life. Betty was active in churches within the communities in which she lived, moving between the Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Betty also volunteered in many community organizations over the years, including various hospital auxiliaries, Meals-on Wheels, American Cancer Society, United Way, American Red Cross, as a reader for the visual impaired and at Country Meadows of Hershey, where she resided for 9 years before moving to their facility in Lancaster.
Memorial services will be held in the Spring. Donations may be made in her name to Country Meadows, 451 Sand Hill Rd, Hershey, PA 17033.
