Betty Jane Lichty
Betty Jane Lichty, wife of the late Philip H. Lichty, and daughter of the late Miles and Emily Messerman, died October 17 at the age of eighty-four. At the time of her death, she was a resident of Brethren Village, but had resided before at 3 York Court, Lancaster, and lived for over 40 years at 12 Horseshoe Dr. in Lancaster. She lived her entire life born in Lancaster, PA, attending public schools and graduating from McCaskey High School.
Betty was an avid homemaker as well as an active member of the Pearl St. United Methodist Church, where she served on several committees. In addition she enjoyed golfing and the many trips and cruises she took with her husband.
Betty and Philip were married more than sixty four years before his death in June of this year. She is survived by two daughters, Patrice Kerr of North Wales, PA, Phyllis Stoll of New Providence, PA, four grandchildren; Ian Stoll of New Providence, Erin Kerr of Philadelphia, Matthew Kerr of Brookline, MA, Betsy Pettit of Estella Manor, NJ, one great grandson, Thomas Pettit. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Patrick Callahan.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Pearl Street United Methodist Church, 133 Pearl St., Lancaster, PA on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM. A viewing will be held from 1 until 2 PM. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers, contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to Pearl Street United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
