Betty J. Valuch, 90

Betty J. Valuch, 90, of United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz, where she resided the past three years, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Anna Harnish.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Valuch in 1978.

She was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Betty was formerly employed by RCA and Schick and was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She enjoyed oil painting photographs, cooking, watching news, traveling, camping, and was an avid bowler. She was a fan of the Penn State football team and Philadelphia Eagles.

She is survived by a daughter, Jill Valuch D.O., wife of Glenn Kline D.O., of Lancaster, a son, Jan Valuch, of Lancaster, a daughter-in-law Becky Valuch of Maryland, and a granddaughter Lexie Kline of Lancaster. Betty was one of sixteen children. She has four siblings surviving, two sisters, Josephine Kuhn, Renee Schmuckle, two brothers, Thomas and Edward Harnish all of Lancaster.

Funeral Services will be Celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11AM in the Chapel at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike with The Rev. David Kreider officiating. A closed casket visitation will be from 10-11AM. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to the American Cancer Society 314 Good Dr. Lancaster, PA 17603. So sorry about your mom, Jill. She was a very special lady! I was always so happy when I heard we were planning to visit at your house when we were growing up…(She always had those tiny little sweet pickles – what a treat!! It was the little things!!) Loved camping with you guys, hanging at Coaldale, and just being with your family. Take care!!
