Barbara S. Hartman, 92
Barbara S. Hartman, 92, formerly of Lancaster City, died Monday, August 15, 2011 at The Mennonite Home. Her husband Stanley M. Hartman died in 1982. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Scott Dana and Margaret E. Brown Staples.
She had been a nursery school teacher for the Dr. Psyche Cattell School in Lancaster for 29 years. Known as “Mother Nature”, she worked with the Girl Scouts at a day camp in Quarryville for a number of years and had been a Cub Scout leader. Barbara was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Lancaster.
Barbara’s family includes her son Dana D. Hartman, daughter Harriet A., wife of Walter Kammerer, grandchildren Kristen Clay, Raymond Kammerer and Joshua, David and Shawn Marron, all of Lancaster; and her nephew Doug, husband of Tess Staples and niece Sharon Staples, all of New Jersey. Her brother Lyman Staples preceded Barbara in death.
A Viewing will take place Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 6:30-7:30 PM and the Funeral at 7:30 PM, with Chaplain Dorcas J. Martzall officiating, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA. Interment in Seaview Cemetery, North Haven, ME. Please omit flowers.
