Barbara “Babs” Elizabeth Camp, 68

June 19, 2020

Barbara Elizabeth Camp, 68, formerly of Langhorne, PA, passed away after a battle with cancer on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA. She was born in Philadelphia to the late James W. and Elizabeth “Betty” (Roulston) McGuckin. Babs is now resting with her husband Dennis, of 39 years who passed away in 2016.

A graduate of Radnor High School, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. Babs worked as a manager and trainer for INFO Coffee Service in Philadelphia and then as a military territory manager for Commonwealth-Altadis, Inc.

She was a member of Woodside Presbyterian Church in Yardley. Babs enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds in her yard, and spending time at the family shore house in Stone Harbor, NJ. As an accomplished sailor, she won many races sailing for the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor.

She always put others first, making them feel welcome and included. Some of her favorite traditions were hosting Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas brunch for those who needed a place to celebrate.

Babs is survived by her two loving sons, Derek and his wife, Allison of Levittown, PA and Brian of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren, Aubrey and Brooklyn Camp; a brother, J. Wesley McGuckin, and his wife Teresa of Mechanicsville, VA. Along with many extended family members and close friends.

Relatives and friends are all invited to attend her visitation Friday June 26th from noon until her 1 p.m. memorial service at Woodside Presbyterian Church, 1667 Edgewood Rd., Yardley, PA 19067.

Interment will take place on July 6th at 11am in Bainbridge Cemetery, 270 S. Second St., Bainbridge, PA 17502.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodside Presbyterian Church or to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Babs was  a wonderful, caring and happy person. Through these last months she still kept a positive attitude. We will miss her upbeat conversations. Cousin Gilbert and Gracie. Love to Brian and Derek.

I worked with Bans for many years at Info Coffee Service and every single day, she brought her positive, upbeat personality to work. Babs was an amazing woman. I admired her strength, intelligence and her spirit.

Brian & Derek,
We did not know you guys very well, but knew your Mom and Dad through mutual friends. We always loved when Bear and Babs were around for various social gatherings. We are sorry to see both of them now gone. Our sincere sympathies to you and your families.

Babs would call into our office and would always put a smile on my face.  She was such a joy, even with never meeting her, she made me feel like we were good friends.  I am so sorry for your loss and will miss speaking to her on the phone.  Please be assured of my prayers.

Dear Brian,
I am so sorry for your Mother’s passing. No words can make you feel better, or heal you. In time with God’s help and others to stand beside you, you can find your path.
Each day if all you can do is take one step forward, that’s okay. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s time to move on, you take all the time you need to grieve your Mother. I only ask that when you are ready, continue by only moving forward. Don’t step backward, if you must….stop and rest on this journey and then one step at a time again.
It has been a true God story that your Mom and I met, and her joyous spirit is one I’ll truly miss. My heart, and soul will be with you on Friday, but because of this virus and my health condition I cannot be there. This is hard for me, as I have now lost two of my back row lady friends in the past two months. (Seats #4 and #6 will now be empty) my heart is broken.
May God stay beside you and strengthen and give you courage today and in the days, months, and years to come. Call me if you ever need someone to talk to, I’ll listen.
It has been a honor to know you and will continue to pray for you. Sorry I won’t see you person, but feel my spirit there on Friday.
Blessings, Love, and Peace,
Peggy Wilson

Wes, how I remember in particular our parents good times in SH and Rosemont. The last time I saw Babs was the 1st time Derrick came to the shore and my parents and I came by to meet him. By coincidence my cousin and her husband moved into Traditions 1.5 yrs ago. Although they talked Linda was not aware Babs was part of the McGuckins that lived behind me in Rosemont. All my prayers to you and your family.

Babs, my sorority sister, roommate in PA, member of your wedding party, traveling companion after Denny died and forever friend, you will be sorely missed.  Scythian is doing a tribute to you on Saturday night for our Ireland trip family/friends.  Your amazing sense of humor is lighting up heaven, I am sure.  Hugs to you and Dennis until we see each other again!💗💗💗
