Barbara B. McKee, 80, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at The Glen at Willow Valley. She was married to Wayne H. McKee for 36 years and is survived by six children, Susan H. Mooney, daughter, and husband Brian, Newark, DE, William J. Hudson, son, Newark, DE, Sharon A Reutter, stepdaughter, and husband Daniel, Wilmington, DE, Karen L McKee, stepdaughter, and partner, Michael Reeves, Wilmington, DE, Michael W. McKee, stepson, and wife Kathleen, Newark, DE, T. Patrick McKee, stepson, and wife Danielle, Pottstown, PA; 15 grandchildren, Darren Mooney, San Francisco, CA, Robert and Shannon Mooney, Newark, DE, Tyler and Joshua Hudson, Newark, DE, Sarah and Daniel Reutter, Wilmington, DE, Meghan Hamm, Lejune, NC, Michael McKee, Cochranville, PA, Sean McKee, Newark, DE, Thomas McKee, Baltimore, MD, Elizabeth and Cindy McKee, Wilmington, DE, Shannon and Meghan Walsh McKee, Pottstown, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin Hamm, Lejune, NC, and Brandon McKee, Cochranville, PA.

Born in Wilmington, DE, Barbara was the youngest of three children to the late Joseph and Anna (Barlow) Baggs. Growing up, she resided in all three counties, graduating from Rehoboth High School, in 1956, and Goldey Beacom School of Business, Wilmington, DE in 1957.

Barbara worked for the DuPont Co. for over 30 years, in several departments before retiring in 1996 as an Administrative Assistant for the VP of Information Systems Department.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Barbara was the epitome of family and faith. She was known for her strong heart, kind soul and her wonderful laugh. She was sentimental and a giving person, putting the needs of others before her own.

Barbara was a parishioner of St. James Episcopalian Church, Millcreek Hundred, Wilmington, DE, where she served in many different roles, including Jr. Warden, Altar Guild directress, and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the National Episcopal Church Women, an organization that empowers women of the Episcopal Church to carry out Christ’s work in the world, beginning as the parish representative in the early 90’s and retiring for health reasons, as secretary on the ECW national board in 2008. The ECW led Barbara on several brief mission trips, to help build housing in the Faith, Hope, and Joy Project, Episcopal Diocese of Honduras. Barbara and three other ECW Province presidents were invited by their counterpart in the Philippines to help empower women there…to channel their talents and abilities to encourage one another to become resources, friends and sisters in Christ.

A Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Friday, December 14th at St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

December 10, 2018

My prayers and thoughts are with all of you. I only  had the pleasure of meeting Barbara, your mother, grandmother or friend one time but she was a lovely lady. Barbara was many things to many people but to the women of the Episcopal Church she was a shining beacon. Someone to look up to and emulate. She will be missed. God bless each of you .

Barbara was the backbone and driving force of the ECW in Delaware and in the nation for many years.  She was honored as the Distinguished Woman of the Diocese of Delaware for her service and leadership.  Regretably I am unable to attend her service.  Rest in Peace, faithful servant.
